There are tons of places where you can get some good blog ideas. First you have to determine the point of your blog. Are you promoting an affiliate product, allowing others to advertise, or you have a product that you have created?

Good blog websites will have a theme such as commenting on things happening in the news. One of the most popular blogs is the huffingtonpost.com.   This blog is a business blog designed to advertise expensive products to affluent readers.

Other good blog websites will be centered around a specific niche where the blogger can focus on the details of a specific topic throughout their blog posts. These blogs can range from clothing apparel, sporting equipment, health, cars, motorbikes, fishing, etc…

When coming up with good blog ideas, you want to focus on what sells. If someone makes a magazine on the topic, then it might be worth the effort.

The reasoning behind that is magazines have to make money to keep putting out the magazine. If they are making money, then that means people are buying it.

Of course, if you are still stumped on a good blog idea you can go to our dear friend google. Just do a search on blog ideas, good blog websites, or anything else that comes to mind. Do a little surfing and see what other blog websites are doing.

I would also get the RSS feed of some blogs that are similar to the area of interest you want to target. This is so you can be notified of what’s happening in your target market.

If you don’t know how to do this, it really is quite simple. I would suggest using the web browser Flock because there is more social marketing features integrated into it. You can download it for free. Just go to google and type the word Flock.

If you are a die hard IE person, you can subscribe to an RSS feed by clicking the feed button shown below.

IE's RSS Feed Button

After clicking on the blogs feed, you will be taken to a page via feedburner to decide how you would like to subscribe.

IE RSS Feed Selection Link

After you select the “Subscribe to this feed,” you will get an option dialog for your subscription.

IE RSS Feed Subscribe Box

Once you subscribe, you will want to view your various feed subscriptions. To do this in Internet Explorer you will want to make the menu selection as depicted in the following image.

IE RSS Feed Selection Menu

This will create a sidebar view so you can see all of the RSS feeds that you are subscribed to.

IE RSS Feed Browser View

That is how you subscribe to RSS feeds in Internet Explorer. Now I will show you the steps to subscribe in Flock and see why I prefer Flock as a browser.

Flock RSS Feed Menu Selection

First thing you want to do is to make sure you are viewing your feed side bar. You can do this by following the menu selection as depicted above.

This will bring up the sidebar in your browser like this…

Flock RSS Feed Sidebar View

One thing to note from this view is that you can easily see the number of articles you have not read yet. The blue box with the number shows you this.

When viewing a blog, you will often see the RSS icon. All you have to do is click and drag that icon into the feed sidebar. Like this…

Flock RSS Feed Click and Drag

This will add the blog to your subscription list and notify you of new articles to view.

Flock RSS Feed Browser View

Another nice thing about Flock is that it will show you the articles you have already read with a small description.

Now you can easily browse all the blogs in your particular niche and get notified when the blog author has made a new post. You want to find the most popular blogs in your particular niche and make sure you subscribe to their RSS feed.

You can make a determination of which blogs are the most popular blogs by using a tool such as quantcast.com to view traffic information. More traffic means you have found a blog with a lot of popularity.

This will give you tons of blog ideas. Make sure that once you find a blog niche that you want to target that you use googles keyword tool to find the keyword phrases associated with that particular niche.
